Roof and Gutter Replacement Scaffold – Domremy College

This week Stronghold Hire were busy erecting a scaffold for roof and gutter replacement. The project was at the Nagle building at the prestigious Domremy College in Five dock.

Roof Scaffolding – Tiles, Gutters & Pipes

The main reason for the roof scaffold was to replace all of the tiles, the gutters, down pipes and work to the parapets. We also installed extra decks and access to the windows that required light restoration.

No anchors were allowed to be installed into the brick work so the scaffold was to be designed to be self-standing with the use of buttress bays.

A Loading Bay for Roof Tilers

We also suggested the installation of a loading bay to help the roof tilers out with their removal and install of tiles. They agreed that this would be beneficial, so we installed one on each side, engineered and certified to a safe working load of 2000kg.

Scaffolds Used – Cuplock & Aluminium

Stronghold Hire used galvanized cuplok scaffold material for the main scaffolds and then utilized our lightweight Aluminium kwikstage system for the linking scaffolds across the adjoining roofs. The lightweight scaffolds reduce any chance of damage to metal roofs significantly when prepared and installed correctly.

Scaffolding With Strict Deadlines and No Alterations

Another challenge was to work in with the school holidays so that no scaffold works were carried out during normal school term, this was not a problem for us with adequate resources supplied to meet the client’s strict deadlines.

This project is currently still on hire and has required no alterations or adjustments. This comes down to the planning and set out stage to ensure the design accommodates as many trades as possible without adjustment.
