Residential Scaffolding in Sydney

In Sydney’s scaffold industry, there’s a common perception that the standard of residential scaffolding doesn’t match that of commercial scaffolding. Several factors contribute to this view, including:

1. Less Budget on Residential Scaffolds: This is probably the main reason why residential scaffolds are not completed to the standard that they should be. Many inferior scaffold companies will cut corners to undercut the competition in price. Many of the clients on residential scaffolds are homeowners who would not realize that the scaffold that they have been provided does not meet Australian standards.
2. Residential Scaffold Specialists: Some scaffold suppliers only provide residential scaffolds, they are not involved in the industrial or commercial sector at all. It is because of this that their scaffolders may be less experienced and qualified, meaning that their ‘bar is set lower’ and there is more of an emphasis on quantity over quality.
3. NSW Worksafe Inspections: It is felt that residential scaffolds are not inspected by NSW WorkSafe as much as commercial scaffolds. It’s a shame that this happens, but we guess the commercial scaffolds are generally much bigger, with more workers involved and hence, much more risk. NSW WorkSafe does an excellent job in trying to keep the industry safe, we only wish that they had more resources to carry out more residential scaffold site visits and weed out the amateur providers.
