Commercial Scaffolding at Castlereagh Street, Sydney
Stronghold Hire were recently engaged by Remedial Services to provide a 44m high scaffold at the rear of 155 Castlereagh Street in Sydney’s CBD.
Scaffold Challenges & Requiremetnts
Our client required scaffold for emergency works removing loose render and brickwork which was deemed unsafe. One of the challenges was that the access to the base of the scaffold was to be through a busy courtyard belonging to the neighbour. The Courtyard had 2 cafés, a restaurant and was also a main thoroughfare to the entrance of their building.
Weekend Scaffolding For Minimal Disruption
It was decided that the only times that we could erect and dismantle the scaffold would be on weekends. Another challenge was that there was a weight limit of only 6 ton allowed on the courtyard itself, this meant that all material had to be brought on small 3 ton trucks for both the erection and dismantle stage. One of the Cafés remained open on Saturdays so we ensured that pedestrian control was in place at all times.
Super Cuplock Scaffold System
The scaffold was 44m high so we used the super cuplock scaffold system and shortened the bays to 1.8m long so that extra bracing or double standards were not required. The base out was on top of a planter box which we overcome with the use of soldier beams.
