Zetland Edge Protection Project with Parapet Clamp System
This month Stronghold Hire was asked to provide a safe working area on the rooftop of a seven-storey building in Zetland. The client was re-waterproofing the area, which also required them to remove tonnes of chippings safely and cost-effectively. The client also requested no drilling take place and that no anchors were to be used. Two of the systems we use do not require anchors.
Anchor Free Scaffolding
The first one is the EBR or ‘pole up’ system that is perfect for residential houses with soffit/eaves. The other system is the parapet clamp system. The parapet clamp system can be used over small parapets or can be turned 90 degrees to connect to slab edges.
Parapet Clamp System
This job at Zetland had a small upturn or ‘hob’ all the way around the rooftop. It was just enough height for us to use our parapet clamp system. The rooftop also had a permanent certified static line installed that our installers were able to connect to with their fall prevention equipment.
Rubbish Chute
To get the chippings from the roof we offered our demo/rubbish chute service to them. The client was very happy that they only had one point of contact for these two services. This often happens here at Stronghold Hire, we sometimes have 3 to 4 of our services on the same job. Not only does it make it easier for the client, but they often save costs as we are already on site.
All the material for the edge rail and the scaffold required for the top of the rubbish chute was craned in by the client. The chute sections remain on the floor and are attached one at a time from the bottom using a hand winch. There were no suitable structures to attach the chute hopper, so we built one using a counterweighted scaffold.
Easy Integration Edge Rail System
One of the reasons that we decided to choose the edge rail system that we provide, is that it can integrate easily with a scaffold. The handrails are aluminium scaffold tubes of 48mm diameter, the same size as our existing scaffold stock. Connecting to stair accesses or rubbish chute hopper setups is very easy, and compliant. The parapet system is very quick to install.
Two Days and No Patch-ups Required
The clamps, handrail, scaffold and chute were all completed in two days. The design of the system uses pressure and geometric lock to keep it in place, no drilling or patch-ups required!
Versatile Edge Rail Systems
The edge rail systems that we offer are very versatile and can adapt to many different scenarios. With the option of both heavy-duty steel scaffold or lightweight aluminium scaffold, sometimes used in conjunction with the edge rail system, we can usually find a suitable, cost-effective solution to eliminate your fall from height risks.
Edge Protection Service
Edge protection is a relatively new service that we now provide. It is growing fast and requests have been frequently coming in. If you believe that edge protection will be good on any of your upcoming projects, feel free to give us a call on (02 8985 2020) or email us at info@strongholdhire.com.au to receive a free quote within 24 hours.
